What is the difference between an apostille and legalisation?

An apostille is a simplified form of legalisation for countries that have signed the Apostille Convention. With just one stamp, an apostille makes your documents internationally valid. For countries that are not part of the Apostille Convention, full legalisation through the embassy is required.

We identify exactly what you need and advise you on the fastest and most cost-effective path for your documents.

For which countries is an apostille stamp possible?

An apostille is possible for all countries that have signed the Apostille Convention. There are currently more than 120 countries that have joined the convention, including all countries of the European Union, the United States, Canada, Australia and many other countries around the world.

In the Middle East and North Africa, for example, Bahrain, Morocco, Oman, Tunisia and Turkey have joined the convention. However, for many other countries in these regions, full legalisation through the embassy is required.

We always check whether your country of destination is part of the Apostille Convention and advise you on the correct procedure. This prevents you from spending unnecessary time and money on full legalisation when an apostille is sufficient, or vice versa, thinking that an apostille is sufficient when full legalisation is required.

For specific information about your country of destination, please contact us for personal advice.

How long does an apostille procedure take?

Apostille procedures are considerably faster than full legalisations. We ensure that 90% of our apostilles are ready within 48 hours. For urgent cases, we can often deliver within 24 hours.

Thanks to the simplified apostille process and our close contacts with the relevant authorities, you can quickly obtain your legalised documents.

What if my documents are used for multiple countries?

This happens frequently in international cases. We analyse which countries your documents will be used in and determine the most efficient apostille approach. Sometimes a single apostille is sufficient for multiple countries in the Apostille Convention, while other times several steps are required.

How can I be sure my documents are safe?

All documents remain under our control during the apostille process. We do not work with intermediaries and treat everything confidentially. You can follow the apostille process through direct communication with our specialists, who knows exactly where your documents are.

What if something goes wrong with my documents?

We take full responsibility for the entire legalisation process and handle your documents with the utmost care. Thanks to our many years of experience and thorough knowledge of all procedures, the process almost always runs smoothly.

In the unlikely event that something does go wrong during the legalisation process, we will resolve it immediately at no extra cost to you. We stand behind our service and ensure that you ultimately receive your correctly legalised documents.

Our experience since 1998 and daily contact with embassies enable us to resolve any problems quickly and efficiently. Your trust in us is important, and we act accordingly. You can therefore count on us to do everything we can to deliver your documents correctly and on time.

How soon can I get started with an apostille?

Immediately. Send us your documents and we will start the apostille analysis the same day. For urgent cases, we can often start the apostille process within a few hours, so that you can quickly obtain your legalised documents.
